The Orvis Company Recognizes Excellence at Boardwalk

Thorne Bay, Alaska (March 16, 2021) - For decades, guests and adventure gurus alike have recognized Boardwalk Lodge for its 5-star Alaska adventure. So it was no surprise this year when The Orvis Company nominated Alaska's Boardwalk Lodge for their coveted 2021 Lodge of the Year award.

Boardwalk Lodge has participated in the elite Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Program for over 20 years. The program consists of 68 properties that Orvis has identified as among the best fly fishing destinations on the planet. These locations and their staff must meet rigorous standards, including exceptional fishing, guiding, equipment, accommodations, and food fare, to name a few. Orvis frequently visits on-site and collects extensive evaluations from guests to ensure its exacting standards.

Each property in the Orvis program is unique, from the wilds of Patagonia to the Caribbean islands and beyond. This year, as in the past 35 years, Orvis honored three participating lodges as finalists for their Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year award. Alaska's Boardwalk Lodge was second among them.

Lodge owner Brad Steuart and his staff are ecstatic with the global recognition. "What a wonderful accomplishment this is for our employees and our guides," says Steuart. "They are the ones who have made this program what it is. We aim to provide every guest with the trip of a lifetime!"

While striving to provide a 5-star lodge experience in the Alaskan wilderness, Steuart admits, "We realize that's an oxymoron. But, frankly, it works quite well... We overdo it in every aspect of the business."
