Hike through serene hemlock forests leading to sandy beaches with whale-watching spots and vibrant tide pools, showcasing the island's diverse and stunning natural ecosystem.

Tongass National Forest, covering more than just Prince of Wales Island, offers over 700 miles of hiking trails for all skill levels. On Prince of Wales Island alone, several dozen trails vary from easy walks like One Duck Trail to more challenging hikes like Sunnahae, offering stunning views. Trails range from gentle, one-hour walks to more strenuous, multi-hour adventures, providing something for everyone.

Boardwalk Lodge guides can help you select the perfect trail based on your experience and preferences. Most hikes take two to four hours, ideal for an afternoon escape. A downloadable list of Forest Service trails is available, but accessibility may vary depending on the season. Remember to dress for the weather and bring your camera!
